The Bootleg Honeys

Since the summer of 2012 The Bootleg Honeys have quickly become one of the Bay Area’s favorite live Americana acts. Their sweet and lively sound features impeccable three part harmony and musicianship, as well as a hefty collection of finely crafted original material that will pull your heartstrings and get your boots stompin’! December 2015 brought the release of Paint it Red, their debut full length album featuring 11 original songs, which receives regular air play on Sonoma County radio and beyond.

In 2014 the Honeys released a self-titled three song EP, which is still remains in local radio rotation. In February 2015 they held and recorded a sold out fundraiser to help support the making of Paint It Red, from which they released a live album of Kate Wolf songs. Paint It Red, recorded over four days in August 2015, was released in December of the same year to an enthusiastic hometown reception making two KRSH DJ’s 2015 Best Of lists.

In 2016 founding members Katie Phillips and Alison Harris welcomed singer songwriter Karen Joy Brown into the Bootleg family, as well as drummer Mark Tarlton, who has also engineered and co-produced The Bootleg Honeys’ catalog.

The Bootleg Honeys have played large and small California venues with a number of great artists, including The Great American Music Hall with The White Buffalo, Sweetwater Music Hall with Albert Lee, as well as The Black Lilies. They have played at the past three The Kate Wolf Music Festival (2014, 2015, 2016) with headlining acts including Joan Baez, The Indigo Girls, The Wood Brothers, Steve Earl, Earle Fest with Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Sonny Landreth. They regularly play to full houses at hometown venues like McNear’s Mystic Theatre, Hopmonk, and Twin Oaks Roadhouse in collaboration with local artists The Brother’s Comatose, David Luning, The Easy Leaves, The Highway Poets and Eric Lindell.
